THE SACRO MONTE DI BELMONTE TORINO

The Sacro Monte di Belmonte, with its Sanctuary and the chapels of the Via Crucis, is placed on a hill that stands isolated in the territory of the municipality of Valperga in the metropolitan city of Turin, at an altitude of 727 meters, covered by thick vegetation.
The area where the town is part of a broader nature reserve of the Piedmont Region, managed by one of its departments.
The chapels run along a circular path through a forest of oaks and chestnut trees interrupted by large granite rocks of reddish color. The newsagents line is dry, essential. The chapels are all related to a single type of construction, with a classroom, circular or quadrilateral, preceded by a porch from which we see the sacred scene, portrayed with polychrome terracotta statues.
